Staffordshire U18 Trial 21st October 2024
Dear Clubs, Schools, Coaches, Parents and Players,
At the end of a strong U17 season we ended with a squad of 30 players reducing numbers as the season progressed, this is nearly our required number for U18.
We are asking Clubs, Schools and Colleges to forward injured players from last season plus only exceptional players not seen at U17, the coaching team and selectors have only one evening to select a squad. If we get too many candidates, the chance we will miss the better players will increase. Coaches, please carefully consider your selections.
Please get all players attending the selection event to complete the registration form and photograph (if possible) and return by email to : stephen.eastwood3@outlook.com
Players in the final 30 after U17 2023-2024 need not complete a registration form if all the information remains unchanged.
The selection event will be in 2 parts :
Forwards and backs will carry out drills which be assessed for technical ability and team skills.
Then a short full contact game will then take place, likely 4 or 6 teams for about 20 minutes each to enable skills to be assessed in a match situation.
From this evening the selected players will all play in the development session against NLD after which the final squad will be confirmed.
The RFU calendar only allows one evening so it is a challenge to get it correct first time hence the process outlined above.
The Assessment Event will be on Grass at Longton Rugby Club.

Monday 21st October 2024 at Longton RFC 1900-2130 hrs
CB Squad Development.
Friday 1st November 2024 Squad Development session with NLD away 1830-2030 hrs venue to be confirmed
