Diversity and Inclusion – Position at Staffordshire Rugby Union

In line with Constituent Bodies across the country, Staffordshire Rugby Union wishes to create the new role of Diversity and Inclusion Lead as part of its Management Team structure.

The SRU is strongly committed to becoming a more diverse and inclusive organisation by ensuring:

  1. That all rugby related environments are inclusive to all
  2. That diversity is positively embraced in all rugby situations
  3. That all current and future rugby players are represented across the game in all leadership roles eg. coaches, managers, administrators etc.

The Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Lead has a key role to play alongside CB and club colleagues in being part of this development, leading it within Staffordshire and positively promoting inclusive leadership.

The Rugby Football Union will be providing a strategy for D&I and the Lead will be expected to ensure that this will be fully implemented. The Lead will also be expected to develop and lead the implementation of a strategy that meets the local needs of the SRU.

Implemented well, D&I goes far beyond the basic legislative and compliance requirements to create an environment where difference is embraced and individuals can flourish.

The ideal candidate, who will be a volunteer, will have the passion and understanding of how a diverse leadership and volunteer base can benefit the growth of rugby and create of a more inclusive sport.
