Staffordshire Rugby this weekend

There’s still a lot of rugby to be played this season and on Saturday April 27th, the first of the Staffordshire Cup adult finals takes place.

The Intermediate Cup Final, also known as the Lewis Taylor Trophy reaches its climax at Walsall RUFC. Holders Burntwood take on Newcastle and it should be a cracker as the two clubs finished adjacent to each other in Midlands Counties 1 West (N) this season.

Get along to Delves Rd, where the bar opens at 1.30pm for a 3pm KO.

Still 5 clubs in Staffordshire are alive in the Papa Johns Mens Community championship, shield and plate competitions.

Trentham take on Harbury at home in the national quarter final of the Counties 3 and below Championship with a Twickenham final on the horizon. Why not get down and see if Trentham can make it through to the semi final. KO 3pm.

Stoke take on Bedford Athletic at home in the Regional 1 Group 3 Shield group game to determine the national semi finalists and whilst Leek are not playing this weekend, the Moorlands outfit are already in the semi final of this competition having won Group 2. They play Penrith at home on May 4th for a place in the final at Worcester.

Burton travels to Wirral in the Regional 1 Group 2 Plate decider. Both clubs are played two, won two, so the winner will go through to the national semi final too.

Finally Barton under Needwood flies the flag in Counties 3 and Below Northern Plate quarter final with a trip to Northampton Mens Own.

Good luck to all Staffordshire sides this weekend.

The Staffordshire Centenary Cup finals also take place on Saturday. This highly successful competition has been well supported by Staffordshire Clubs’ lower XVs and 3 finals are set to go ahead on Saturday.

In the A Final, Leek 2s host Lichfield 2s.

In the B Final, Stafford 2s host Longton 2s.

In the C final, Willenhall 2s host Newcastle 3s.

Should all be 3pm KOs.
