SAD NEWS

It is with deep regret that I inform members of the death of Andy Hancock aged 80 years who passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday 9th February 2020.

Andy played for Stafford Rugby Club between 1968 and 1971 while working for Staffordshire County Council, joining them from Northampton Saints.  During his time with us he captained the club and played in the Staffordshire County XV that won the County Championship in 1970.

He was, of course, more famously known for his try for England in 1965 when he ran 70 yards in the last minute to score and draw with Scotland 3-3 and deny the visitors their first Twickenham win in 27 years.

Andy won three caps in total and Stafford RFC are proud to display one of his shirts on our club house wall.
